What would you think if the person sitting beside you at school turned out to be a vampire?

Bella Swan, an average seventeen-year-old, has just moved to Washington State to live with her father after her mother gets remarried. Bella doesn’t mind living with her father, but she is really unhappy about leaving sunny Arizona for the rainiest part of the whole United States.

Bella is happy to see that everyone at her new school is very friendly to her, with the exception of one student: Edward Cullen. Edward glares at Bella constantly and tries to change his schedule after finding out he shares classes with her. Edward then skips school for the rest of the week, and Bella can’t help but think it’s because of her.

A few days later, Bella is almost in a terrible accident, but she’s surprised to see that it’s Edward who saves her. After that incident, Bella wants to know everything about Edward, and she becomes suspicious about him. Soon Bella finds out that her theory was correct and Edward shares his deepest, darkest secret with her – he’s a vampire.

As Bella keeps Edward’s secret, they become good friends. However, as their relationship develops, Bella finds herself in trouble yet again. How’s will Edward’s secret save her?

I really enjoyed this book because it is suspenseful – I had a hard time putting it down! Even though some may think Twilight is just a “vampire book,” it combines many genres (romance, action & adventure, suspense and even some humor) into one. I also think Stephenie Meyer does a great job making the characters sound like real teenagers which makes the book even more enjoyable. I can’t wait to read what happens in the second book of this series, New Moon.

For a great read, try Twilight by Stephenie Meyer!
